Synopsis

Called the “Eighth Wonder of the World” by Thomas Edison, the Linotype machine completely transformed the communication of information and was the industry standard for newspapers, magazines and posters from the late 19th¬†century to the 1960s and 70s. The film tells the surprisingly emotional story of the people connected to the Linotype and how it impacted the world. The name of the machine comes from the fact that it produces an entire line of metal type at once – a significant improvement over the previous industry standard of letter-by-letter typesetting.
